Homemade Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Homemade Ice Cream is yours with just 5 basic ingredients. This tried and true mint chocolate chip ice cream is as good, if not better, than any other.


Whole Milk

Granulated Sugar

Heavy Cream

Peppermint Extract

Semi-sweet Chocolate

Special Equipment: Ice cream Maker


Whisk milk and sugar until dissolved.  Stir in heavy cream, peppermint & green food coloring if desired.

Churn & Freeze

Churn in ice cream maker for about 25 minutes. Add chopped chocolate in the last 5 minutes. Add to airtight container and freeze for 2-3 hours.

Serve & Enjoy

Top Tips

Purely for vanity, I add a few drops of green good coloring. Use vanilla extract instead of peppermint if you prefer. I’ve had my budget-friendly Cuisinart ice cream maker for years and we use it every spring/summer.
