Nutella Strawberry Hand Pies
These Nutella Strawberry Hand Pies are the perfect little treats for loved ones on Valentines Day or any day of the year. Make it your own – change the shape, swap for a different fruit, etc. Possibilities are endless!
Some of us adore everything about Valentines Day and dive wholeheartedly into the pink/white/red groove.
Others of us just aren’t that into it. A friend of mine jokingly dubbed it The Day of Forced Affection.
The rest of us fall somewhere in between when it comes to Valentines Day. That’s me.
Going elbow to elbow at crowded restaurants on V-Day does not light my candle. Flowers, balloons, and cutesy heart cards are a pastime of the past for Hubby and me. But…I still dig Valentines Day.
No, my mantle isn’t sporting Pinteresting heart garlands. But I’ll totally wear pink socks. Maybe heart earrings.
And while I’m so not that mom who hand-paints V-day mailboxes for her kids to bring to school, this I will gladly do…
Cooking and baking is an expression of love for me. It’s what my parents did for me, and it’s what I do for my people.
That, and I’m a sweet tooth girl with a ridiculous affection for Nutella.
When Nutella first became all the rage here in the U.S., I didn’t want to like it. I’m silly like that, going against the grain just for the sake of rebellion. Guess how long that lasted, because who genuinely doesn’t like Nutella?
Nutella + strawberries = a match made in paradise. All of it is sweetly hugged together inside a crispy, buttery pie crust.
Whether you’re into Valentines Day or not, these Nutella Strawberry Hand Pies are sure to be loved by all.
{Pssst. You can reshape these pies into squares or circles for anytime of year. Just sayin’.} 😉
Enjoy!

Nutella Strawberry Hand Pies
Ingredients
- The amounts are approximates, as it depends on the shape/size of your pies.
- 1 recipe for double pie crust, Follow directions for crust portion
- 1 jar Nutella, I use a 26 oz jar, but smaller jar is ok
- 1 jar Rpure strawberry preserves
- 8-10 ripe strawberries, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten, for egg wash
- coarse sugar for garnish
Instructions
- Roll out half of the chilled pie dough to 1/8 in thick, on a lightly floured surface. (keep other half in the fridge while you work.)
- Using cookie cutter, cut out desired shapes. Alternatively, use a knife to cut dough into squares or rectangles. Continue re-rolling dough scraps until first half of the dough is used up.
- Spoon 1/4 to 1/2 tsp Nutella onto bottom crust of hand pies. Spoon 1/4 to 1/2 tsp chopped strawberries over the Nutella. Dollop 1/4 to 1/2 tsp strawberry preserves on top. Keep in mind that the more filling you put, the trickier it may be to seal the crust together.
- Place top crusts on hand pies, and take care to seal them tightly. Use a fork to press down hard on edges to finish the seal.
- Using a sharp knife, cut little slits over the tops of hand pies. Brush each pie with beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse sugar. Gently place pies on a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Repeat with remaining half of pie dough.
- Bake at 350F for 15-20 minutes, or just until tops are golden brown.
- Let cool completely before serving.
