Strawberry Frosé (Rosé Cocktail)

How many of us know that June celebrates National Frosé Day? That tidbit popped up on one of our news apps, which we were tickled pink about.

Before we even discovered that such a day existed, there sat an already-blended batch of refreshing Strawberry Frozé in our kitchen. Coincidence? We think not. After all, the onset of warm summer days literally begs for this fruity frozen drink that can be prepared ahead of time.

One sip of this Strawberry Frosé and you’ll get why this fun cocktail has become all the rage. Imagine a cold, slushy, refreshing cocktail featuring ripe strawberries and crisp rosé wine.

{BTW, frosé rhymes with today.}

This Frozen Rosé Slushy is cool, refreshing, breezy, and fruity. It’s a truly stunning summer drink that’s easy to whip up and share 😋

How to Make Strawberry Frosé (Frozen Rosé):

All you need is a good blender, fresh ripe strawberries, sugar, and a bottle of your favorite rosé wine. Some major slushy cravings are about to happen.

You don’t really even need a recipe in the traditional sense for this Strawberry Frosé.

This luscious cocktail is simply a combination of your favorite bottle of rosé wine and fruit. Keep in mind, some rosé wines are barely a blush of pink, while others are a deeper pink. The shade of pink won’t affect your frosé in flavor as much as it will in color. If you’d like a more vibrantly colored frosé, use a deeper hued bottle of wine.

All kinds of berries will work beautifully here, but we’re partial to strawberries for their supremely vibrant red.n Go for the ripest, reddest strawberries you can find. See our tips on buying fresh strawberries.

How to prep Ahead

In good faith, I gotta say that the hardest part is the wait. The strawberries need a bit of time – maybe 30 minutes to bathe in sugar, allowing it to macerate nicely. We use this same trick for our luscious Strawberry Banana Bread.

The rosé + strawberry mixture needs a bit of time to chill in the freezer prior to blending.. It won’t freeze like water does, due to the alcohol content, but it will freeze just enough to be blender-ready.

To prepare this delicious cocktail ahead of time, make as much strawberry-wine mixture as you’d like to serve, and place it in the freezer until you’re ready to blend and serve. If you’re outdoors, unbreakable glassware makes life easier.

When the party starts, simply blend, fill the glasses, and enjoy. Here’s to Frozé, today. 😎

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 3 servings
Author: Amy Dong

Ingredients

  • 16 oz ripe, red strawberries, roughly chopped
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 bottle dry or semi-dry Rosé wine, darker the better
  • Garnish: Strawberry slices, mint sprigs

Instructions

  • In a container, combine the strawberries with sugar. Stir to incorporate fully; let sit at room temp at least 30 minutes or until berries have emitted quite a bit of juice and are nicely macerated.
  • In a 9×11 dish, combine the macerated strawberries with wine. Stir to combine. Place in freezer several hours or until frozen (overnight is fine.)
  • Scoop frozen mixture into heavy-duty blender; blend until it’s the consistency of frozen slushy. Immediately divide into drinking glasses and serve with desired garnish. (Frosé should be enjoyed on the spot, for best texture and flavor.)
