Why This Recipe Stands Out

Here’s why you’ll love our 3-Ingredient Lemonade Margaritas:

  • Super Quick and Easy: These 3-Ingredient Lemonade Margaritas require no elbow grease, but you’ll get plenty of high fives.
  • Perfect for Summer: They’re the perfect drink for all the summer gatherings.
  • No Blending Required: It’s the perfect quick cocktail to accompany a batch of Big Batch Pineapple Margaritas or 5-Minute Strawberry Margaritas.
  • Refreshing Flavor: The frozen lemonade concentrate perfectly balances the tequila and Cointreau, resulting in a flavorful, refreshing drink.
  • Make Ahead: These can be made ahead, just like our Hawaiian Mai Tai, making them perfect for parties and gatherings.

Key Recipe Ingredients

  • Frozen Lemonade from Concentrate – The star of our recipe, this provides the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors. Note that frozen lemonade from concentrate is sweeter and much more lemony than bottled lemonade.
  • Tequila Blanco – It gives our margaritas their classic kick, with a smooth and slightly earthy undertone.
  • Triple Sec – This adds a hint of orange flavor that complements the lemonade beautifully.

Substitutions And Variations

Here are some of our favorite variations and substitutions to make this delicious cocktail your own:

  • Frozen Lemonade: If you can’t find frozen lemonade concentrate, you can substitute it with freshly squeezed lemon juice and plenty of simple syrup. We don’t recommend bottled lemonade, as it’s much more diluted in flavor.
  • Tequila: We love the clean, crisp flavor of tequila blanco in this recipe, but feel free to substitute it with your favorite tequila.
  • Non-Alcoholic Version: If you’re looking for a non-alcoholic version of this drink, you can use lemonade in place of tequila and Triple Sec.
  • Orange Liqueur: If you don’t have Cointreau or Triple Sec on hand, a splash of orange juice can work in a pinch.

Easy Recipe Instructions

  1. Combine frozen lemonade, tequila, and Cointreau with ice-cold water. Stir well.
  2. Fill glasses with ice and pour the margarita. Garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves, if desired. Enjoy!

How To Prep Ahead

Here are strategies to make this already-quick cocktail even simpler:

  • Make a Batch: Feel free to multiply the ingredients to make a larger batch of this lemonade margarita. It’s great for serving at parties or gatherings.
  • Prep the Mix: You can also prepare the frozen lemonade, tequila, and Cointreau mixture in advance. Chill until you’re ready to serve. Give it a good stir before pouring it over ice.
  • Pre-Chill: If you know you’ll be making these margaritas later in the day, consider chilling the glasses in the fridge ahead of time. This will keep your drinks cooler for longer.

Commonly Asked Questions

Can I use fresh lemonade instead of frozen lemonade concentrate?

While you can use fresh lemonade, we recommend sticking to the recipe and using frozen lemonade concentrate. It gives the margarita a more concentrated lemon flavor and the right level of sweetness.

What type of tequila is best for this recipe?

We recommend using a good quality tequila Blanco (silver tequila) for this lemonade margarita. Since the flavor of the tequila is prominent in this cocktail, using a high-quality tequila will make a difference in the flavor.

Can I make a non-alcoholic version of this recipe?

Absolutely! You can substitute any alcohol with lemonade or lime soda.

Can I make a big batch of this for a party?

Absolutely! Simply multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you need. You can mix everything in a pitcher instead of individual glasses. Just remember to stir well before serving to make sure everything is well mixed.

How long do lemonade margaritas keep?

Lemonade margaritas are best enjoyed fresh. However, if you have any leftovers, you can cover and refrigerate them for up to 24 hours. Be sure to give them a good stir before serving as the ingredients may separate.

Do I need to rim the glasses with salt?

This is entirely optional, but adds a nice touch for looks and flavor. If you don’t prefer the saltiness, feel free to use sugar for the rims instead.

I made your Carne asada with the secrete tenderize and made this drink. We absolutely loved both recipes! I’m so happy I found your site! Thank you.

If you happen to have a well-known chicken sandwich restaurant nearby (the one that isn’t open on a Sunday), do yourself a favor and get a large cup of their homemade lemonade for your weekend (ask for it without ice). I have not added Cointreau to this mixture, just had the lemonade in a tall glass, with just enough ice and a healthy dose of 1800 reposado.. it was amazing. I can only imagine adding Cointreau and a tiny bit of a salt rim would make it even better.

      Yum, sounds amazing!

Is it 3TB of lemonade or 3TB of lemonade concentrate?
