14 Best Apple Recipes

Breakfast and Brunch

Apples provide a refreshing and nutritious twist to breakfast recipes. When baked into breads or muffins, they add a burst of flavor and nutrition to start your day right.

Main Dishes and Sides

Apples can lend a subtle, sweet note to savory main dishes like pork chops or stuffing, balancing flavors beautifully. The crispy texture also adds a delightful crunch.

Salads

The natural sweetness of apples pairs wonderfully with vinaigrettes or creamy dressings alike, elevating the overall flavor profile of your favorite salad.

Dessert

In desserts, apples are a versatile and tasty addition that make stunning pies, crisps, cakes, and even cookies.

Despite its name, there is no actual butter in this recipe! Apple butter is healthy, jammy, and perfect for using on toast, oatmeal, or English muffins.
Servings: 40
Author: Amy Dong

Ingredients

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Whisk to combine. Place apples into slow cooker and toss with spice mixture.
  • Cook on low for 10 hours, stirring occasionally, until mixture is thickened and dark brown.Uncover and stir in vanilla. Continue cooking, uncovered, for 2 more hours on low.
  • Either use an immersion blender or transfer apple butter to a blender. Puree just until smooth and creamy. Transfer to clean jars, cover, and keep chilled for several weeks.

Notes

  • Use a mixture of apples for best flavor. We love Honeycrisp, Fuji, Golden Delicious, McIntosh, or braeburn.
  • Servings are an estimate; this recipe makes roughly 4-5 cups. The amount of servings vary, depending on how you use it.
  • Apple butter will keep in the fridge for several weeks in an airtight container, such as a mason jar.

What a mouth watering selection of apple recipes. I like how you’ve included some savoury dishes too, can’t wait to try the Saucy Maple Apple Pork Chops .

Love every one of these apple-licious recipes, but I’m diving into the wheat berry salad first!

Your recipes are so great! I enjoy trying them. One correction you may want to make: the Easy One-Bowl Apple Cake is NOT vegan. A dear friend of mine is a vegan and I was excited to try it to give to her but it has eggs, yogurt, milk and butter! even without the cream cheese frosting.

It is so good to see a post for fall, that isn’t PIE! I love me some pie, don’t get me wrong – but I like to eat other things in fall other than pie. I personally can’t wait to try the donuts that you mentioned in the beginning. Donuts are my weakness, lol.

    • Lisa Rios

These all look heavenly! I’m particularly eyeing those donuts, because YES please!

It’s apple season here in Nova Scotia, and I bought some cortland apples yesterday. I am going to use some of them to make your delicious apple brie prosciutto crostini. It’s Thanksgiving here in Canada next weekend, and this looks like the perfect appetizer to take to a dinner party I’m going to.

      • chewoutloud

Hope you guys love it, Nancie!! I have extended family in Canada, so it’s always fun to hear that they are doing Thanksgiving in October 🙂
